Data Recovery is the process of recovering the data that was once lost, damaged or corrupted accidentally by natural disasters, virus attacks, human or software errors, or hardware failure.

Usually data recovery is temporary and it is possible to retain the 80-90% of data after data loss or corrupt.

There are several companies that offer data recovery by various software and techniques. The software used for data recovery are windows data recovery software, pen drive data recovery software, laptop data recovery software etc.

The techniques used for data recovery are:

Signature based data recovery:
Every file type is based on a unique signature. Suppose, it is determined that signature listed was valid for .jpg files that a person wanted to recover. This can be done easily.

Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM):
It uses a sharp magnetic tip attached to a flexible cantilever placed near the surface to be analyzed. This is an easy and convenient way to retrieve the lost or damaged data.

Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM):
This is also one of the recovery methods to retrieve the lost, damaged, or corrupted data. It is derived from Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM). It uses the same procedure of recovering data as in SPM but the sharp magnetic tip that is placed closed to the surface interacts with the stray magnetic field.

Secure Deletion Techniques:
It is the process of retrieving data in which the media is returned to its initial state.

Techniques such as Signature based data recovery, Scanning Probe Microscopy, Magnetic Force Microscopy, Secure Deletion Techniques etc. are used to get back the data that was accidentally lost, damaged, or corrupted due to human or system error, virus attack, hardware failure etc.
